LPQ Exam Description
In order to receive the LPQualified (LPQ) designation you must take and pass the LPQ exam. The exam, which was developed by loss prevention professionals, is 100 questions in length. Each question is multiple choice and varies in degree of difficulty. The exam is based on the LPQ courseware and focuses on three primary topic areas: the retail environment, becoming a successful business person and loss prevention basics and tools. It is important to note that you do not have to purchase the LPQ courseware to take the LPQ. The LPQ courseware is a study tool designed to aid those who wish to earn their LPQ.
Exam Locations
The exam is administered throughout the country by our test facilitator Comira. To locate a testing facility near you please click on the following link, put in your zip code and select “go”, on the following screen select the LPQ exam and press the “submit” button.

Exam Schedule
The exam is offered at different times throughout the year.
- April 22- June 9.
- July 7 – August 18
- September 8 – October 20
- Additional testing periods will be announced at a later date.
Exam Qualification Requirements
In order to qualify to take the LPQ exam, you must have graduated from high school or have achieved a GED equivalent. Also you are not eligible to receive your LPQ if you have been convicted of a felony or a general court marshal. Additionally, you will not be eligible if you have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude ("moral turpitude" means an offense that calls into question the integrity or judgment of the offender, such as fraud, bribery, corruption, theft, embezzlement, solicitation, etc). You will not be eligible to receive your LPQ certification if you have not met these requirements.
Exam Registration
In order to register for the exam you will need to complete the following steps:
- Fill out the registration form by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
- After you complete the form and submit it with your payment of $250.00 to take the exam, you will receive an email with phone number for a customer service representative at Comira. This email will not be immediate, so please be patient. If you register on a weekend you will receive your email on the following Monday.
- Once you have the phone number for Comira, please contact them to select the date you wish to take the exam and the location of your choice.
- On the date of your exam please bring photo identification with you and plan to show up at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time. Please allow two hours for the 100 question exam.
Note: There will be a delay in obtaining the exam results until a sufficient number of applicants have completed the exam. We must have approximately 100 completed exams so the appropriate passing score can be established.
